Lens Reversal Macro Photography

Received a Lens Reversal Filter Adapter from Deal Extreme the yesterday.  One side is a lens mount that attaches to your camera body, the other side is threaded to match the thread on the front of your lenses.  The idea here is that you mount your lens backwards onto your camera which turns it into a macro lens.  If you read some of the user comments on the Deal Extreme website you will be warned that the threading and camera mount are dubious.  I'd agree with those comments.  I was a little worried that the adapter wouldn't un-mount from my camera after I put it on.  It did after some gentle coaxing.  I had a difficult time getting my Rebel kit lens to thread onto the adapter, and I'm not sure I ever got a solid connection.  It's probably a good thing that the kit lens is mostly plastic.  Anything heavier would have probably just fallen off.

I took a few quick pictures, all hand held and hurried.  And I didn't take the time to fake out a decent f-stop on the lens (which can only be done through trickery since there is no electrical connection to the lens).  The results look promising.  Tripod mounted, stopped down, with plenty of light, I think you could get some pretty nice shots.  And for less than $7 it's well worth the price to play around with.
